In January 2009 the OSU Extension Sheep Team will be teaching a Sheep Production Short Course. This seven week series will start Thursday, January 15, 2009, at the Knox County Agricultural Center, and continue on subsequent Thursdays until February 26, 2009. Each session will run from 7-10 p.m.
This comprehensive program will focus on systems of commercial sheep production and will be geared to both full and part time producers. Some topics include marketing, genetic selection, reproduction, parasites, nutrition, grazing, meat/carcass evaluation and many more. Several specialists from OSU and industry will be presenting up to date and practical information.
If you have any interest in sheep regardless of whether it’s commercial ewes, purebred, or finished lambs you will find this course interesting and informative. The cost for the entire seven week course is only $75 for the first participant from a farm and $30 for each additional participant from that farm. This fee will include all handout and reference material. Reservations are required and may be made by contacting the Knox County Extension Office at 740-397-0401 or mccutcheon.30@osu.edu.
