The Ohio Heartland Sheep Improvement Association invites all sheep and goat producers to a two evening Record-keeping for Better Management workshop on Wednesday November 12 and Wednesday November 19, 2008 at OSU/ATI, 1328 Dover Road, Wooster OH in SKOU Hall room 30. The program will run from 7:00 9:00 PM both evenings. Jeff McCutcheon from the Knox County Extension Service in Mt. Vernon will be the workshop presenter.
Whether you raise sheep or goats or have a small or large farm, this workshop will help you determine what records and/or computer programs will manage your operation more efficiently. Discussion topics may include but not be limited to why records are important, what records should be kept, best and easiest ways to collect and manage records, a review of record keeping software, i.e. Magnum Digital, Flock Filer, etc., budgeting, and expected progeny differences (EPDs) through the National Sheep Improvement Program (NSIP).
Cost of the workshop will be a one time per person fee of $5 for Ohio Heartland Sheep Improvement Association members and $10 for non-members. Pre-registration would be appreciated but not required. There is no deadline and registrations may be phoned or emailed to the OHSIA secretary-treasurer at 419.869.7353 or skg2ewe@verizon.net .
Please mark your calendar for November 12th and 19th and plan to join us on these two evenings.
Jeff McCutcheon, Extension Educator, Knox County
